A two-year-old child was found unconscious with Fentanyl in his system, leading to the arrest of his father, Gary Stewart. The incident took place on March 11, 2024, at the Sub-100 block of Chimney Road on the Tule River Indian Reservation. According to the Tulare County Sheriff's Office, Stewart informed deputies that the child had choked on chips while sleeping.

After being rushed to Valley Children’s Hospital in Madera, medical evaluations revealed the presence of Fentanyl in the child's system. Child Welfare Services were notified and Stewart admitted to law enforcement that he had the substance on him, leading to his arrest and subsequent booking into TCSO Pre-Trial.

The child is currently in stable condition and is expected to recover. Those with additional information are urged to contact Detective Jeremy McMillan and/or Sergeant Merced Zamora with the Tulare County Sheriff's Office at (559) 733-6218. Reports can also be made anonymously by calling or texting (559)725-4194 or via email at tcso@tipnow.com.
